Splinting of Mobile Teeth

Periodontal splinting of teeth is nothing huge than to ligate, tie, or attach few or more tooth to one another collectively to take precaution before hand in movement of trembling dent tooth. On the whole, splinting is accomplished for shaky tooth after periodontal treatment, or after orthodontic treatment where fixed braces are being fitted to the teeth.
Loose contact of teeth with the gum is the issue of occlusal trauma that can virtually destruct the rest of the periodontal formations of the teeth. Occlusal trauma is of two kinds:

Primary occlusal trauma

The superfluous force exposed to regular structures surrounded by tooth that is commonly produced by beyond functional forces such as masticating customs.

Secondary occlusal trauma

Biting conventional forces pertained to a tooth which has lost bone attachment or induced by bacterial plaque in between teeth results in secondary occlusal injury.

Method of Splinting

Splinting method of the fastened tooth is corrected in a single position certainly like there will be shaking of teeth due to the loosening of the gum attached to the tooth in future. When the implicating fundamental cause for tooth shaking is taken away, there are higher opportunities for a superior bone to mold inside the tooth roots. By that, the opportunities rise up for a tooth to behoove permanently following splinting.

Temporary splinting achievement processes

Ephemeral splinting can be done by the attachment of cementum structure with:

A) Extra coronal splints:
Applying this technique helps generally in the bondage between materials and the enamel hence producing more stiffness of teeth without movement.

B) Intra-coronal splints:
These splints are done by sectioning a tiny narrow cavity, connecting a fixed custom molded metal splint and cementation is done in the location to stabilize the cementum and enamel of teeth.

C) Permanent or fixed splinting:
Here in this way of treatment crowning is done on the affected teeth and makes up a splint to form a whole by fusing and uniting the crowned tooth to enable a prompt teeth model.

D) Occlusal splints or guards:
In case of observing mastication beyond limit, a removable splint or bite guard may be used to restrain habit of applying high level force to bite.

Another application can be sometimes done to cure loosen teeth by a complicated process of orthodontic treatment which implies repositioning of the affected teeth so that it would be effectively gained more even and prompt functioning of teeth during commitment with forces to bite.

Material used for splinting the tooth

A metal wire will be bonded in the rear or on the front of the teeth to be splinted. But nowadays due to growth of technology introduction of Glass Fibers are being used for tooth splinting since it provides a more aesthetic manifestation with its latent color in the fore tooth and also has unique bondage to the tooth.
