Dentures are the solutions to missing teeth. They are worn or are fixed to function like natural teeth. But they can be uncomfortable or might require periodic adjustments. Dentures after few years undergo wear and tear and you need to replace or repair them. A quick advice would be not to try and fix your dentures yourself. Instead seek doctors help.

Homely Solutions to Broken Dentures

  • Applying dental wax to broken denture. It is a very temporary solution and it will fall off regularly. You need to fix them at regular intervals of time. But eventually you have to see your dentist for a permanent solution.
  • Use counter dental adhesives when your dentures become loose. Take the dentures out and turn the tissue surface towards you. Apply the adhesive at the anterior, left rear and the right rear positions. Then securely place the dentures back in the mouth till you see the dentist.
  • If wax or adhesives do not work, remove the dentures and allow your gums to rest.

Fixing Process of Dentures

Tell your dentist whether your dentures are loose or sharp or irregular with scratches or flanges. Your dentist might trim the dentures to smoothen them as required. After trimming, polishing the dentures will make them shinier and smoother. Then your dentist will check the fit whether the extensions are proper, whether the lip support is right, whether you can speak clearly or whether the height of the dentures are correct. Then your dentist will ask you to test the bite. However, fixing of dentures can be needed due to various causes like congenital defects, non-success on root canal, wear and tear, periodonitis, mouth trauma, tooth decay etc. It is important that you visit your dentist regularly and maintain proper oral hygiene.
